About the position

The Engineering Manager at Outscal Technologies will lead a team responsible for designing, building, and managing scalable distributed systems that power Disney's streaming applications, including Disney+, Hulu, and Star+. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance user experiences and drive innovation in technology solutions. The manager will also focus on mentoring team members and ensuring the performance and reliability of the infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of stateful microservices.
• Manage a team of engineers to enhance the user experience for Disney Streaming customers across Hulu, Disney+, and Star+.
• Design and implement critical platform features in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements and provide technical solutions.
• Mentor and empower team members, providing career growth opportunities.
• Maintain effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
• Monitor and improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of the infrastructure.
• Stay updated with technology trends and evaluate their potential impact.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, focusing on building highly available architecture and shipping robust code.
• Demonstrated success in problem-solving, designing, and implementing software at scale.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership.
• Proven leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
• Experience with performance tuning and maintaining critical software.
