About the position

The Software Engineering Manager will lead a team of software engineers in developing customer-facing and back-end software products for educational institutions across the US and Canada. This role involves overseeing project planning, execution, and delivery while ensuring adherence to time, budget, and quality standards. The manager will provide technical leadership, engage with DevOps, and foster collaboration with other departments to align software development with business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in software design, architecture, and problem-solving, with hands-on development involvement as needed.
  • Collaborate with product management, quality assurance, and sales to align software development with company objectives and customer needs.
  • Oversee the development of quality software, ensuring compliance with coding, testing, and security best practices.
  • Allocate resources effectively, managing budgets and personnel resources to ensure team success.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Encourage innovation and continuously seek improvements in the software development process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in a software engineering lead or manager role.
  • 3+ years of experience with deployments pipeline management and CI/CD.
  • 2+ years of experience with Financial Management systems.
  • Experience with performance measurement and analytics tools such as Dyatrace.
  • Strong understanding of application security.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • 4+ years of experience developing in C# with Azure DevOps.
  • 4+ years of experience developing with SQL Server.
  • Experience working with student information systems (SIS) or learning management systems (LMS).
