About the position

As a Manager of Software Engineering at Gartner, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in overseeing a team of software developers tasked with designing and implementing scalable applications and services. Your primary focus will be on developing software solutions that support the Finance Transformation program and the Fulfillment system, ensuring a seamless transition of sales orders through the Order to Cash process. You will be responsible for collaborating with leadership to establish strategies, execute plans, and promote best practices in modern software development. This position requires you to develop critical components that address complex problems across various projects, facilitating technical design reviews, code reviews, and testing to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency. Additionally, you will be expected to manage operating costs effectively by leveraging both Open Source and Commercial software solutions. The role is structured around a standard 40-hour work week, from Monday to Friday, with working hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. You will have the flexibility to telecommute, allowing for a hybrid work environment that combines both onsite and remote work options. Responsibilities

  • Oversee software developers in designing and implementing scalable applications and services.
  • Develop software solutions for the Finance Transformation program and Fulfillment system.
  • Support various technologies focusing on the Order to Cash process.
  • Ensure smooth transition of sales orders through effective system design.
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategy, execution, and best practices in software development.
  • Develop critical components to solve complex problems across various projects.
  • Facilitate technical design reviews, code reviews, and testing processes.
  • Maintain industry-standard operating costs by utilizing both Open Source and Commercial software.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Applied Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Two years of experience in software development.
  • Two years of experience with programming languages including Python, SQL, Java, or Javascript.
  • Experience utilizing two or more Amazon Web Services such as S3, ECS, Lambda, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, or API Gateway.
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker, Vault, or Kubernetes.
  • Experience developing and consuming web services and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience utilizing CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Terraform for integration and delivery.
  • Experience with unit testing.
