About the position

The Manager of Software Engineering at The Options Clearing Corporation will lead a DevOps AWS team, focusing on the design and implementation of automation scripts and ensuring the reliability of cloud applications. This role involves overseeing project management, translating management directives into actionable policies, and supporting both in-house and third-party applications. The position requires a strong background in cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and experience in software development using Java and various frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, manage, plan, and administrate a DevOps AWS team.
  • Design and implement complex automation scripts in Bash, Groovy (Jenkins), and Python for cloud deployments.
  • Support in-house applications and third-party tools such as Terraform, Kafka, Qualys, GitHub, and Hashicorp Vault.
  • Maintain reliability and stability of AWS instances using Configuration as Code (CaC), CLI, and Linux.
  • Translate middle and senior management directives into workable policies.
  • Monitor project status and take remedial action on projects behind schedule or over budget.
  • Design, develop, and implement web, core, microservices, and APIs using Java and frameworks like Spring Boot and Hibernate.
  • Run the incident and problem management process for non-production environments.
  • Resolve complex support issues in non-production environments.
  • Assist production support and development staff in debugging environment defects.
  • Create procedural and troubleshooting documentation related to cloud native applications.
  • Oversee the work of 3 DevOps Engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Seven (7) years of experience as a DevOps Lead, Java Developer, or related role.
  • Experience designing and implementing complex automation scripts in Bash, Groovy (Jenkins), and Python.
  • Experience supporting in-house applications and third-party tools such as Terraform, Kafka, Qualys, GitHub, and Hashicorp Vault.
  • Experience maintaining reliability and stability of AWS instances using Configuration as Code (CaC), CLI, and Linux.
  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing web, core, microservices, and APIs using Java and frameworks such as Spring Boot and Hibernate.
