About the position

The Manager Software Engineering at Lumen is responsible for designing and implementing the company's vision for the future. This role requires a strong background in software development, product delivery, agile methodologies, DevOps, and cloud computing. The manager will lead their team by example, guiding them in developing and shipping features while fostering a culture of learning and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software solutions aligned with Lumen's vision.
• Lead a team in developing and shipping software features.
• Ensure adherence to REST API development and security standards.
• Utilize SQL and NoSQL databases for application development.
• Manage container ecosystems using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for efficient application development.
• Apply system design principles and performance engineering in projects.
• Explore and integrate GenAI development using langchain and vector datastores.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Java or Python development, with proficiency in relevant frameworks.
• 3+ years of experience as a people manager, with a focus on growing and mentoring talent.
• Experience managing teams across multiple technology stacks and providing guidance as needed.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with REST API security standards such as OAuth2.0 and OIDC.
• Experience with various SQL databases like Oracle or PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Couchbase.
• Knowledge of container orchestration and management tools.
