About the position

The position involves managing a team of engineers within the Consumer Online & Publishing department at Nintendo of America. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining systems that facilitate the approval and publishing of games on the Nintendo Switch platform. The role requires a strong background in software engineering, project management, and experience with live services, as well as collaboration with various departments to implement effective software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, direct, and design activities of the organization.
  • Provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the department.
  • Work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify and implement cost-effective software solutions.
  • Monitor and maintain hardware/software technology for maximum access and efficiency.
  • Establish and manage standards, controls, policies, and procedures for assigned areas.
  • Support senior leadership with long-term tactical plan development.
  • Oversee and manage contracts, budgets, and vendors.
  • Collaborate with other teams to provide operational support and project excellence.
  • Ensure issues are identified, tracked, reported, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Create disaster recovery plans, scripts, and tests.
  • Ensure compliance with established processes and internal controls.
  • Manage, develop, and oversee a team of 5-10 software engineers.
  • Conduct interviews for contractors and full-time employees, providing feedback and guiding hiring decisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six to eight years of related experience, including previous people management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff in a dynamic environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced project and program management knowledge.
  • Experience managing delivery of enterprise scale, complex applications.
  • Working experience with deployment automation, microservices architecture, and cloud-based development.
  • Experience working with global development teams on enterprise web applications.
  • Background in full-stack end-to-end development experience preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
