About the position

As a Manager of Software Engineering at Oak Street Health, you will lead the development of Canopy, a transformative clinical operations and population health platform. This role involves managing a team of software engineers to deliver impactful features for healthcare, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving engineering excellence in a fast-paced, agile environment. You will be responsible for building a high-performing team and refining processes to enhance developer productivity, all while ensuring that the products developed significantly improve patient care and clinical operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead & manage a team of software engineers to prioritize, build, and ship impactful features.
  • Define and refine processes to improve developer productivity.
  • Build a high-performing team through hiring, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Collaborate with leaders from Product, UX, and Implementation teams on product delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Platform team to evangelize architectural and TDD best practices.
  • Partner with Technology leadership to drive Engineering excellence OKRs.
  • Partner with Product Managers to prioritize and manage the technical debt backlog.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering building enterprise-grade products.
  • Experience in leading and managing an engineering team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical challenges to business stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a distributed, cloud-based environment (Azure/AWS) using Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Experience in an Agile/DevOps environment.
  • Event-driven experience.
  • US work authorization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with the Healthcare Domain and HIPAA.
  • Familiarity with functional and/or reactive programming concepts.
  • Familiarity with the tech stack: Vue.js, Rx.Net, Cypress.io, .NET core, Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, Kafka, MongoDB, gRPC.
