About the position

The Engineering Manager for the Product Catalog Team at Snap Inc. will lead the development and management of critical services that support Snap's Dynamic Ads business. This role involves overseeing the onboarding and management of product data, ensuring the delivery of personalized ads to customers, and collaborating across teams to meet product requirements. The manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, and operating scalable services that enhance user experience and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate critical and scalable services including user identity services and core persistence layers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
• Evaluate, test, and debug work to ensure high quality and reliability.
• Advocate for best practices in availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management.

Requirements

• BS/BA degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 11+ years of software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience managing a backend engineering team.
• 2+ years of experience working with Machine Learning in ad or content ranking.
• 2+ years of experience leading high-throughput or highly distributed systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Java, C++, and/or Python.
• Experience with NoSQL solutions, Memcache/Redis, Kubernetes, Docker, or Google/AWS services.
• Experience in infrastructure and large-scale distributed system design.
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Experience with MLOps and managing production machine learning lifecycle.
