About the position

The Manager of Software Engineering at L3Harris is a dynamic, hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 10 software engineers. This position focuses on delivering software solutions for military and intelligence community clients while ensuring adherence to contract requirements, cost, and schedule. The role involves significant leadership responsibilities, including mentoring staff, managing engineering overhead, and contributing to strategic planning and technology development.

Responsibilities

  • Execute software development in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner.
  • Accountability to both internal and external customers for cost and schedule performance on programs, IRaDs, and internal orders.
  • Manage engineering overhead funds and efforts with a focus on contributions to the direct labor base.
  • Coordinate and conduct senior reviews of bid and proposal efforts for technology design and development.
  • Manage relationships with external hardware and software vendors.
  • Participate in technical and programmatic discussions with customers to ensure expectations are understood and managed.
  • Contribute to new business pursuits by fostering cross-functional relationships in new business development.
  • Mentor and motivate staff and engineers in a professional engineering environment.
  • Hire qualified staff and provide technical training to advance state-of-the-art technology.
  • Contribute to the development of new technologies and processes, including idea submissions for internal research and development (IRAD).
  • Create and implement strategic plans and technology development roadmaps for networking and software products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related engineering experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI U.S. security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree.
  • Strong background in software development.
  • Strong background in networking architecture principles.
  • Strong background with requirements analysis.
  • Experience developing and integrating large, complex, global-scale networking-oriented systems.
  • Familiarity with C/C++, C#, Python, and similar languages.
  • Familiarity with Cisco networking technologies, including routing protocols and virtualized networks.
  • Knowledge of various waveforms and wireless communications.
  • Proven record of successfully leading large project planning and development activities.
  • Significant experience in bidding new technical work.
