About the position

The position involves leading a high-performance engineering team responsible for developing and enhancing the ONTAP software product, which is a leading storage operating system. The role focuses on managing software development projects, ensuring timely and high-quality releases, and collaborating with product management and customers to deliver innovative solutions. The individual will be expected to contribute to software architecture and design while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of high-performing software development and test engineers using a DevOps model.
  • Contribute expertise to software architecture and design of distributed system features.
  • Facilitate product design, implementation, and support, including hands-on involvement as needed.
  • Provide coaching and career development for team members.
  • Ensure the timely and high-quality release of modules in ONTAP.
  • Work closely with product management and customers to build the best product.
  • Take responsibility for results including costs, methods, and staffing.

Requirements

  • Experience in managing software development projects with C/C++ in a LINUX/UNIX environment.
  • Hands-on experience in systems design and systems software development.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering concepts such as computer architecture, operating systems, file systems, networking, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Clear understanding of the product development cycle and project management.
  • Ability to understand and apply new technologies.
  • Experience with storage technologies is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field required with a minimum of 8 years of related experience, including at least 2 years as a people manager.
