About the position

Cargill is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead a small engineering team focused on building and enhancing modern business applications. This role is pivotal in guiding the team through product development, ensuring adherence to architecture and technology standards, and delivering secure and scalable solutions. The Manager will be responsible for fostering team development and enhancing cross-team relationships to improve the company's engineering delivery. In this position, you will lead a team of engineering professionals tasked with designing, developing, deploying, and enhancing both new and existing software solutions. You will provide direction to ensure that the team builds highly scalable and resilient software products and platforms that meet business needs. Additionally, you will offer input and guidance to the delivery team across various technology and business capabilities to achieve team deliverables effectively. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will partner with the engineering community to coach engineers, share relevant technical approaches, identify new trends, and present modern coding methodologies. Furthermore, you will be responsible for leading and developing your team, making decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the team's objectives and the company's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineering professionals that design, develop, deploy and enhance new and existing software solutions.

  • Lead and develop a team, coach and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Confirmed hands-on technical experience with technologies including cloud, software development, and continuous integration and continuous delivery.
