About the position

The Engineering Manager for User Foundations at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology will lead a team responsible for designing, building, and managing scalable distributed systems that power Disney's streaming applications, including Disney+, Hulu, and Star+. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance user experiences and drive innovation in the media business.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of stateful microservices.
• Manage a team of engineers to enhance the user experience for Disney Streaming customers across Hulu, Disney+, and Star+.
• Design and implement critical platform features in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams like Product and Program to identify business requirements and provide technical solutions.
• Mentor and empower team members, providing career growth opportunities.
• Maintain effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
• Monitor and improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of infrastructure.
• Stay updated with the latest technology trends and evaluate their potential impact.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, focusing on building highly available architecture and shipping robust code.
• Demonstrated success in problem-solving, designing, and implementing software at scale.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership and external partners.
• Proven leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire a team.
• Experience with performance tuning and maintaining critical software.
• Bias towards action, with experience delivering high-quality software solutions on time and within budget.

Nice-to-haves

• At least 1 year of experience in a leadership or management role in technology.
