The Manager - Solutions Engineering and Systems Operations at UT Medical Center is a pivotal role that reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer. This position is responsible for leading a dynamic team of Cloud and Infrastructure Architects, Solutions Engineers, and Server Engineers. The primary focus of this role is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the systems while collaborating with senior technical architects and IT leadership to co-develop multi-year technology roadmaps that span all areas of the organization. The manager must ensure effective management and organizational alignment to meet the objectives of the organization, department, and team. In this role, the manager will be tasked with managing annual capital and operating budgets, as well as overseeing vendors and contracts necessary to support the server and storage infrastructure and cloud environments. Regular meetings with staff will be essential to discuss goals and objectives, and periodic meetings with department representatives will ensure that support goals are being met. The manager will also be responsible for providing support for systems, which includes day-to-day operations, monitoring, problem-solving, and efficiency optimization to drive compliance with established standards. The position requires a hands-on technical manager who is actively involved in designing, developing, and implementing technical solutions. The manager will serve as a technical escalation point for systems and issues, both during business hours and after hours/on-call. Additionally, the manager will create and maintain technical knowledge base documents and establish policies, processes, and procedures within the IT organization to support efficiency and workflows. The role also involves collaborating with the IT Security team to enforce and monitor the security posture of the systems while identifying potential areas of risk within the IT infrastructure and developing solutions to bridge any gaps.
