About the position

The Manager of Sports Events at Red Bull North America is a pivotal role responsible for driving the development and execution of national properties, large-scale events, and significant event initiatives within the region. This position is crucial in creating unique points of difference that enhance the brand image of Red Bull. As a project leader, you will collaborate with key stakeholders to maximize the impact of major regional sports event initiatives. Your responsibilities will encompass all aspects of event execution, from the initial creative development and concept phase through to execution and post-event evaluation. You will work closely with local field teams to ensure that all sports properties and Red Bull partners are fully utilized in host markets, which includes setting goals, identifying key scenes and relationships, and guiding relevant initiatives that follow national and regional events. In this role, you will lead the execution of all regional sports events, ensuring high-quality production and fiscal responsibility for event budgets. You will identify and propose suitable sites for event properties based on local market needs and expected return on investment (ROI). Your leadership will extend to developing project plans, overseeing their execution, and managing the project team. You will act as the liaison between Red Bull and local authorities to secure necessary authorizations, ensuring effective communication among team members and partners. Additionally, you will manage event budgets, work with legal teams to construct contracts, and negotiate the best proposals with suppliers and partners. Your collaboration with media agencies and the regional communications team will be essential in maximizing media outcomes for significant projects. Furthermore, you will support product activation by working with local brand marketing and sales teams to develop activation plans that resonate locally. You will manage the distribution of event collateral and collaborate with regional marketing leadership and third parties to create innovative branding solutions for events. Sharing best practices will also be a key component of your role, as you participate in brand marketing workshops and trainings to gather insights and align strategies across the marketing team and sports department. Your efforts will drive ROI with the regional communications team, ensuring effective external communication and content distribution for local initiatives across various channels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of all regional sports events
  • Ensure quality event execution and production for all Red Bull Sports events in the region
  • Manage event budgets for assigned projects
  • Identify and propose sites for event properties based on local market needs and expected ROI
  • Develop project plans, oversee their execution, and lead the project team
  • Oversee all elements of pre-planning and event execution
  • Act as the liaison between Red Bull and local authorities to secure necessary authorizations
  • Ensure effective communication among team members and partners
  • Work with Legal to construct contracts and negotiate best prices for relevant partners/suppliers
  • Source and manage event production companies and oversee all event logistics
  • Collaborate with media agency on Above-the-Line strategies and execution
  • Partner with regional communications team to maximize media outcomes of important projects
  • Work with region leadership and Santa Monica teams to inform regional sports marketing strategy
  • Facilitate necessary agreements with outside parties in collaboration with Risk Management and Legal departments
  • Develop activation plans with local brand marketing and sales teams
  • Manage distribution of event collateral for the region
  • Develop new branding solutions for events with region marketing leadership and third parties
  • Participate in brand marketing creative workshops and trainings to share insights and align strategies
  • Drive ROI with regional communications team to ensure effective external communication and content distribution.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in event, project, team coordination, and budget management
  • Experience with event and project management
  • Ability to find creative and unique solutions for project execution
  • Knowledge of several sports and their respective scenes on a regional and national level
  • Experience managing budgets exceeding $400,000
  • Strong contract and negotiation skills
  • Experience with relevant distribution outlets across all communication channels
  • Experience with TV and video production programming
  • History of collaboration with local governments and understanding of local approval systems and regulations
  • Ability to foster meaningful dialogue and gain buy-in
  • Strong planning and project management competencies
  • Ability to cultivate a team environment
  • Creative mindset with experience in implementing new ideas and assessing results
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
