About the position

The position involves preparing guidance for accounting processes in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for all entities within Fresenius Medical Care (FMC). This includes developing policies or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that will be utilized across the organization. The role requires close cooperation with the Internal Control Systems (ICS) team to ensure alignment with any changes in the accounting processes and to implement the necessary controls related to these changes. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for informing all relevant stakeholders, including the Accounting team and Global Business Service Centers, about the process changes. This will be achieved through various communication channels, including conducting training sessions both online and offline to ensure that all impacted parties are adequately informed and prepared for the changes. As the primary contact for Global Business Service Centers regarding IFRS Statutory Accounting inquiries, the individual will need to maintain effective communication and provide support as needed. The role also involves participation in cross-functional projects, which may require collaboration with different departments to achieve common goals. Furthermore, the individual will be tasked with preparing monthly analyses to monitor and report on the effectiveness of the accounting processes and controls implemented. This position is critical in ensuring that all accounting practices adhere to IFRS standards and that the organization remains compliant with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare guidance for accounting processes according to IFRS in the form of policies or SOPs for all FME entities.
  • Cooperate with the ICS team on alignment of changes in the accounting process and implementation of related controls.
  • Inform stakeholders impacted by process changes through various channels, including performing training sessions.
  • Act as the contact person for Global Business Service Centers for IFRS Statutory Accounting questions.
  • Work on cross-functional projects to enhance collaboration and efficiency.
  • Prepare monthly analysis to monitor accounting processes and compliance.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant - ACA/ACCA/CPA or equivalent qualification.
  • Degree or master's in accounting or finance.
  • Multiple years of experience in the preparation of financial statements according to IFRS or in audit within the Big4.
  • Proficient in MS Office and good knowledge of SAP R/3 FI.
  • Experience in preparing and performing training sessions.
  • Structured, systematic approach to work.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Accuracy and reliability in work output.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; strong team player.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; knowledge of other foreign languages is an advantage.
  • Ability to work well in a culturally and functionally diverse environment.
  • Readiness for some short-term business trips.
