About the position

The Manager - Substation Engineering position at Sargent & Lundy involves overseeing project teams that include engineers, designers, estimators, and scheduling professionals. The role focuses on the design, modification, and analysis of high voltage substations, managing projects from individual assignments to large-scale engineering efforts. The manager will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards while coordinating with various stakeholders and clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage project teams involved in the design and analysis of high voltage substations.
• Direct the team lead in coordinating detailed design phases for electrical engineering work.
• Ensure projects are completed with high quality, on time, and within budget.
• Identify and track potential out of scope work and coordinate with clients for approval.
• Prepare reports and studies that present technical information clearly and concisely.
• Perform reviews of work including calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Communicate directly with clients for project and account support.
• Support business development opportunities with existing and potential clients.
• Develop and mentor team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Seven or more years of experience in project management of utility transmission, substation, or energy projects.
• Knowledge of engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE, and ANSI.
• Experience in design engineering and management of high voltage utility projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in writing proposals and cost allocation.

• Advanced management/business degree or certification.
