About the position

The position involves managing personnel and processes necessary to support, integrate, and link key supply chain functions, including distribution and/or transportation services. The role requires converting objectives into actionable plans, ensuring sustainable outcomes, and creating clear responsibilities within the organization. It also involves managing the annual operating budget and ensuring reliable budget performance, as well as developing staff through HR planning, hiring, training, supervising, coaching, mentoring, and performance management. Additionally, the position entails managing departmental infrastructure, including planning, selection, acquisition, installation, calibration, maintenance, service, repair, troubleshooting, and final disposition to ensure reliable operations. The role also includes managing the physical plant for safe operations, security, fitness for purpose, and operating costs. Furthermore, the position requires documenting, stabilizing, and controlling all core operating processes required to manage the SCM Hospital Services department, integrating these processes with upstream and downstream processes, and creating a process improvement plan aligned with the SCM strategic plan, goals, and objectives. The individual will proactively manage demand for linen and supplies, ensuring customers have adequate provisions for quality patient care, and may also be responsible for patient and equipment transportation services, ensuring timely responses and managing assets and equipment effectively. The role includes providing training and education for staff, developing an information management requirements plan, ensuring compliance with institutional standards and regulations, and reporting quality, safety, and environmental incidents to supply chain leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Converts objectives into clear action plans and ensures sustainable outcomes.
  • Creates clear responsibilities for the organization and integrates them with individual/team responsibilities.
  • Manages annual operating budget and ensures reliable budget performance.
  • Manages and develops staff through HR planning, hiring, training, supervising, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Manages departmental infrastructure including planning, selection, acquisition, installation, calibration, maintenance, service, repair, troubleshooting, and final disposition.
  • Manages the physical plant for safe operations, security, fitness for purpose, and operating costs.
  • Documents, stabilizes, and controls all core operating processes for the SCM Hospital Services department.
  • Integrates core operating processes with upstream and downstream processes.
  • Creates a process improvement plan aligned with the SCM strategic plan, goals, and objectives.
  • Improves core operating processes to reduce waste and lower costs.
  • Creates corrective action routines based on standardized problem-solving methodologies.
  • Proactively manages demand for linen and supplies and ensures adequate provisions for quality patient care.
  • Notifies customers of shortages/outages or changes to products.
  • Provides timely response to demand for patient transportation services.
  • Proactively manages assets and equipment for performance, quality, and location.
  • Notifies customers of delays or issues impacting service delivery.
  • Provides training and education for all staff while leveraging existing functionality.
  • Develops an information management requirements plan and collaborates with support groups.
  • Ensures all activities and processes meet institutional standards and regulations.
  • Reports quality, safety, and environmental incidents to supply chain leadership.
  • Adheres to regulatory requirements and corrects deficiencies pertaining to the Environment of Care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or equivalent.
  • 5 years of combined experience in supervision and operations management or equivalent.
  • Master's degree (MBA or MHA) preferred.
  • Previous experience in Continuous Process Improvement and Project Management is essential.
  • Demonstrated leadership and change management experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills desired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) desired.
  • Prior healthcare industry or medical device manufacturing experience preferred.
  • APICS certification preferred.
