About the position

The Manager of Supply Chain Improvement & Business Process Adoption will lead and manage the supply chain transformation process through effective change management and the embedding of business improvement principles. This role is pivotal in analyzing and improving supply chain operations, managing ideas, and providing coaching to ensure that best practices are adopted across the organization. The successful candidate will develop, manage, and report on a collaboratively agreed supply chain transformation roadmap, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic objectives. In this position, the manager will oversee supply chain transformation projects, working closely with regional improvement specialists to drive maturity and value in the delivery of key supply chain optimization initiatives. The role requires the ability to produce high-quality reports that provide meaningful insights for senior management, including General Managers, Vice Presidents, and Executive Committees. The manager will collaborate with regional leads and technical experts to apply analytical tools and techniques for ongoing business process analysis and re-engineering, aiming for significant improvements in quality, efficiency, throughput, and flexibility. Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, the manager will act as a custodian and technical advisor of the business improvement principles framework. This includes analyzing work management data and ensuring that business improvement processes and systems are well understood and effectively delivered. The manager will lead business optimization workshops, ensuring maximum contribution and buy-in from team members, and will maintain effective working relationships with consultants, technical and operational heads, and regional leads. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for rolling out policies, processes, and controls for the supply chain function at both regional and site levels, working closely with the supply chain governance and compliance lead to ensure adherence to SOX controls and other compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and report on the collaboratively agreed supply chain transformation roadmap.
  • Manage supply chain transformation projects through regional improvement specialists to support the drive of maturity and value in the delivery of key supply chains optimization initiatives.
  • Provide assistance to regional leads in the delivery of tactical supply chain operational improvement initiatives.
  • Periodically produce reports of high quality providing meaningful insight for General Managers, VP, SVP and EXCOM.
  • Apply analytical tools and techniques to identify ongoing business process analysis and process re-engineering for improvements in quality, efficiencies, throughput and flexibility.
  • Foster a culture and be the custodian/technical advisor of the business improvement principles framework.
  • Align Business Improvement and regional teams on best practice processes & systems through change management, training, and coaching.
  • Review current projects to ensure alignment with a standard process improvement framework and methodology.
  • Lead and facilitate business optimization workshops to maximize contribution and buy-in from team members.
  • Ensure a process-driven approach is in place to extract and analyze operational data for identifying focus areas for improvement.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with consultants, Technical and Operational HOD's, General Managers, and regional leads.
  • Lead the rollout of policies, processes, and controls for the supply chain function at regional and site levels.
  • Work closely with the supply chain governance and compliance lead to govern adherence to SOX controls and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • A degree qualification in a relevant mining/engineering related discipline.
  • A qualification in analytics such as Lean Six Sigma, Applied Maths, or Statistics; an MBA is advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of various types of business improvement tools and methodologies.
  • Sound knowledge of the supply chain value and enabling processes.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities using interpersonal communication skills and appropriate business improvement frameworks.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse teams.
