About the position

At Avidity Biosciences, we are on a mission to profoundly improve people's lives by delivering a new class of RNA therapeutics known as Antibody Oligonucleotide Conjugates (AOCs™). As a Manager in Supply Chain Shipping & Logistics, you will play a crucial role in executing our supply strategy across all clinical programs while supporting our commercial strategies. This position is pivotal in ensuring that our shipping documentation, execution, compliance, storage, and warehouse management are handled efficiently and effectively. You will be responsible for managing vendor relationships and facilitating cross-functional communication across Avidity's network, which includes collaboration with teams in CMC, legal, finance, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, and IT. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing the execution of shipments between Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs), ensuring that all transportation processes are coordinated, documented, and tracked according to our standard operating procedures (SOP). You will manage freight forwarders and customs brokers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods, while also resolving any issues related to shipping, customs clearance, and delivery. Additionally, you will create and maintain all shipping documents and records, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and trade laws. In this role, you will also be responsible for storage and warehouse management, which includes creating receiving documents for third-party storage warehouses and managing monthly inventory. You will lead logistics-related projects, review costs against the budget, and analyze data to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Your ability to communicate effectively with both internal stakeholders and external providers will be essential in facilitating problem-solving and maintaining good working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for executing shipments between CMOs and ensuring that the quantity and quality are consistent with the shipment plan.
  • Ensure that all end-to-end transportation (pick-up to delivery) is coordinated, documented, and tracked in accordance with the company's shipping process (SOP).
  • Manage and coordinate freight forwarders and customs brokers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
  • Resolve issues related to shipping, customs clearance, and delivery.
  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders on the status of shipments and delivery schedules.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including CMC, Supply Chain, and Project Management, to ensure that shipments are aligned with production and inventory schedules.
  • Create and maintain all shipping documents and records.
  • Manage and maintain CMO's documentation requirements, such as shipping agreements and memos.
  • Identify and resolve shipping-related issues, including inaccurate or missing records, damaged goods, and customs clearance delays.
  • Follow up on customs clearance and maintain routine transaction data.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations and trade laws.
  • Create receiving documents for third-party storage warehouse(s) in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate the receiving and shipping process with third-party storage warehouse(s).
  • Manage and track monthly inventory and reconcile as necessary.
  • Lead and manage logistics-related projects.
  • Review and track all costs related to logistics against the budget.
  • Analyze cost data to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Coordinate communication with vendors and the internal finance team, handle any billing issues and disputes, and maintain good working relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, or related field required; Advanced Degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of industry experience within Logistics in the Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry.
  • Experience in temperature-controlled (cold chain) logistics.
  • Experience working with third-party CMOs, manufacturing, storage warehouse, and freight forwarders/customs brokers.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint, at a minimum.
  • Knowledge of Smartsheet, Microsoft Visio.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of shipping qualification and validation is a plus.
  • Highly proactive and organized with attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of effective collaboration with external providers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to facilitate constructive and expedient problem-solving.
