About the position

The Manager Supply Chain at Caterpillar Inc. is responsible for leading the Machine Shop scheduling team, supporting Aftermarket Parts communications, and overseeing Genset Packaging outplant processes. This role focuses on ensuring product availability, optimizing supply chain strategies, and improving performance through effective leadership and collaboration with various functional areas.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to Machine shop scheduling & planning teams.
  • Ensure facility production schedules provide proper product availability to dealers/customers while balancing manufacturing constraint issues.
  • Support Aftermarket Parts customers by establishing processes and tools to predict timing of parts shipments.
  • Develop end-to-end process maps for Machine Shop value streams.
  • Collaborate with product managers to align supply chain strategies with worldwide sourcing strategies.
  • Assign resources to supply chain performance improvement projects.
  • Manage personnel issues and performance evaluations of direct reports, including development and succession planning.
  • Communicate timelines of new capacity with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, & Product Support Life Cycle teams.
  • Support the Triple Crown Process team to improve the Component How Much by When process.
  • Lead packaging outplant capacity growth projects and improve processes to support customer orders.

Requirements

  • Four year College Degree
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP) processes and systems
  • Ability to optimize planning for manufacturing cycles and ensure capacity and materials availability
  • Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of inventory management processes and methods
  • Ability to apply strategic thinking and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.

  • Comprehensive supply chain experience
  • Knowledge and experience with 6 Sigma
  • Experience with end-to-end value chain analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to develop and deploy creative solutions to complex problems
  • Experience in a high-volume production facility
  • Background in scheduling within complexity of attachments and/or internal value streams
  • Experience in purchasing, parts distribution and/or logistics
