About the position

The Engineering Manager is responsible for driving project initiatives related to New Products, Product Improvement, Cost Reduction, and Sustainability. This role involves providing leadership to the Design Engineers, ensuring projects meet key metrics of schedule, cost, capital, and functional performance. The Engineering Manager may oversee design projects from concept to final production and is expected to engage in both domestic and international travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, management, and mentoring to the Engineering team.
  • Responsible for Continuous Improvement programs relating to Engineering and Operations.
  • Initiative Planning to determine needs for category production lines.
  • Conduct administrative activities such as performance appraisals and salary reviews.
  • Manage design projects and provide backup for Design Engineers.
  • Interface with Marketing, Quality, Tooling, Supply Chain, and Procurement.
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of Engineering projects.
  • Ensure timelines are met by managing Engineering team members' projects.
  • Develop strategies for capital projects and floor layouts.
  • Prepare scope of work documents for engineering projects.
  • Manage departmental budgets and effectively delegate work activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments for new and existing products.
  • Provide project status updates to senior level engineers and managers.
  • Provide technical support for proposals related to sustainment activities.
  • Review Contractor Data Requirements lists for safety and reliability analysis.
  • Contribute to cost reduction and reliability initiatives.
  • Train production staff and assist in updating bills of materials.
  • Provide leadership to qualify new equipment, processes, and raw materials.
  • Analyze designs and drive changes or modifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years in Engineering experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in project management and MS Office Suite.
  • Experienced with CAD 3D Modeling and Solid Modeling (Preferred Pro E).
  • Demonstrated understanding of BOM and Engineering Change Notices.
  • Design for manufacturability and mechanical aptitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing concepts.
