About the position

The Manager of Talent Acquisition at UAB Medicine plays a pivotal role in overseeing the recruitment and employment functions for UAB Hospital, UAHSF, and UAB Health System positions. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and legal and regulatory guidelines related to the employment process. The Manager will work under the leadership of the Director and will be tasked with the day-to-day management of personnel within UAB Medicine Employment. This includes developing, implementing, and administering departmental goals, objectives, and budgets while ensuring excellent customer service for both internal and external customers. The Manager will also serve on special committees and participate in various special projects to enhance the overall recruitment process. Key responsibilities include overseeing the recruitment process, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and monitoring budget compliance to forecast future problems. The Manager will act as a liaison with Marketing for global recruitment initiatives and departmental needs, ensuring that the Talent Acquisition (TA) staff processes hire paperwork and pre-hire requirements efficiently. Continuous evaluation and improvement of document processes will be a priority, along with managing relationships with applicants, customers, schools, and outside workforce programs. The Manager will also be responsible for fostering positive working relationships among personnel in the department and with all internal areas and departments within UAB Medicine. This role includes serving as the initial point of contact for internal customers regarding all areas of HR, managing personnel within UAB Medicine Talent Acquisition, and ensuring that established personnel policies and procedures are followed. Regular performance evaluations for each employee will be conducted, and the Manager will assess the training and educational needs of employees within Talent Acquisition. Additionally, the Manager will participate in regulatory site visits, surveys, contracts, and legal requests, directing and communicating HR initiatives for UAB Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the recruitment/employment functions for UAB Hospital, UAHSF and UAB Health System positions at UAB Medicine.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and policy and procedures.
  • Monitors compliance with budget on a regular basis to forecast future problems.
  • Assists in development of strategies to address budgetary problems.
  • Serves as liaison with Marketing for global recruitment initiatives and departmental needs.
  • Ensures TA staff processes hire paperwork/pre-hire requirements in a timely manner.
  • Provides continuous evaluation and improvement of document processes.
  • Identifies and implements system changes/development efforts designed to enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Manages recruitment process and develops relationships with applicants, customers, schools, and outside workforce programs.
  • Promotes positive working relationships among personnel in department and with all internal areas/departments within UAB Medicine.
  • Serves as initial point of contact for internal customers regarding all areas of HR.
  • Manages personnel within UAB Medicine Talent Acquisition, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensures completion of regular performance evaluations for each employee.
  • Serves as recruiter for senior leadership and HR positions as needed.
  • Participates in regulatory site visits, surveys, contracts, and legal requests.
  • Directs and communicates HR initiatives for UAB Medicine.
  • Triage and solve emerging issues from staff and leaders regarding TA, employee relations, compensation, compliance, and policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field of study.
  • Five (5) years of employment/recruitment experience, preferably in healthcare.
  • Two (2) years of previous leadership experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, email, and internet applications.
  • Extensive knowledge regarding applicant tracking software and HR operating systems.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
