About the position

The Manager, Talent Systems and Data at Uncommon Schools will play a pivotal role in driving high-impact projects and completing strategic and operational priorities that align with HR, Recruitment, and Talent Strategy goals across the organization. This position is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of employee and talent data, which will be utilized to generate key insights that inform decision-making across various teams. Reporting directly to the Director of Talent Strategy Special Projects, the Manager will collaborate closely with multiple departments to enhance the effectiveness of talent systems and processes. In this role, the Manager will analyze, build upon, and refine existing Talent systems, including Workday (HRIS), SmartRecruiters (ATS), and Zendesk (Ticketing System). They will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the organization’s people data through regular audits and reviews of data processes and system configurations. The Manager will also address issues raised by staff and key partners, ensuring timely responses and resolutions to tickets, while implementing enhancements to prevent recurring problems. Additionally, the Manager will oversee strategic projects across Talent functions, leading the transformation of Talent Systems. This includes developing comprehensive project plans that outline clear milestones, dependencies, and risk management strategies, as well as providing status updates to senior leaders. The role also involves providing strategic support to partners, preparing materials for various meetings, and undertaking other projects and duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations, process management, and project management, with a focus on talent-related work.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, build upon, and refine current Talent systems and processes.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the organization's people data through audits and reviews.
  • Resolve issues raised by staff members and key partners in a timely manner.
  • Identify system issues proactively and provide recommendations for remediation.
  • Manage strategic projects across Talent functions to lead the transformation of Talent Systems.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that identify clear landmarks, dependencies, and assumptions.
  • Provide strategic support to partners and develop materials for presentations and meetings.
  • Oversee the implementation of enhancements to systems or processes.

Requirements

  • 5-6 years of directly related experience in HR or Talent Management.
  • 3 years of experience in operations, process, systems, or project management roles.
  • Expertise in at least one Talent area or experience leading Talent-related work in a school leadership role.
  • Experience building project plans and leading projects, preferably using project management software.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and Google suite of products, particularly Excel/Sheets.
  • Proficient in Workday or similar HRIS systems, with strong preference for experience as a system admin of an ATS like SmartRecruiters or Greenhouse.
  • Experience implementing or making major configuration changes to a Talent Technology System.
  • Background working with entrepreneurial, growing, or fast-paced organizations.
