About the position

The Manager Tax Accounting at Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation (MVWC) plays a crucial role in supporting the tax reporting and compliance processes for the company's U.S. tax obligations. This position is responsible for preparing financial and tax information in accordance with ASC 740, reviewing domestic income tax returns, and assisting in the tax return compliance process. The Manager will analyze required financial information and collaborate with U.S. tax advisors to ensure compliance during the annual tax return process. In this role, the Manager Tax Accounting will prepare analyses of various book and tax differences, as well as tax reserves, to support the quarterly tax provision process under ASC 740. They will also be responsible for preparing estimated tax and extension analyses and payments. The Manager will assist in the completion of U.S. and state tax return filings for MVW and its subsidiaries, reviewing tax returns prepared by outside firms to ensure their completeness and accuracy. This includes the preparation and review of U.S. GAAP to IRS tax differences and return-to-provision true-up adjustments. Additionally, the Manager will research and document tax issues and processes, assist with responses to tax notices and audits in various U.S. jurisdictions, and perform various General Ledger queries to gather information required for tax analysis. They will maintain a reporting calendar for tax filings of all MVW entities and may review work prepared by administrative assistants or tax analysts. The Manager will also assist with research on special projects as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the tax department.

Responsibilities

  • Review work prepared by administrative assistants or tax analysts as needed.
  • Assist with research in special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • CPA or Master of Taxation preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of corporate income tax experience with similar size organizations in a public or corporate environment.
  • Domestic income tax (compliance & provision) experience preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills; ability to create large workbooks and create formulas, macros, pivot tables.
  • Proficiency in PC-based applications including Excel, MS Access, and MS Word.
  • ONESOURCE experience (e.g., OTP, DataFlow) preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, one-on-one, group).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task, be adaptable, and successfully work in a dynamic work environment with varying managers and leadership styles.
  • Ability to work extended hours, especially during US tax compliance season, as well as quarterly and year-end tax provision timelines to ensure all assigned work is completed timely and accurately.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
