About the position

We are looking for a Manager of Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting who is a highly motivated, action-oriented person to play a lead role in aspects of the SEC financial reporting, technical research, developing accounting policy, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC guidelines. This senior leader will drive high quality financial reporting requirements and robust disclosure controls, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders on a broad set of topics including but not limited to new accounting standards analysis and implementation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting (private and public company experience preferred) and technical accounting (including ASC 606 Revenue, ASC 842 Lease, ASC 718 Stock-based compensation, ASC 350 software capitalization, ASC 360 Goodwill, ASC 470 Debt), and internal controls, along with excellent communication skills. In this role, you will manage the timely and accurate preparation of external financial reports and ensure financial statements and footnotes are presented in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC guidelines. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather relevant information for financial reporting and disclosure purposes, prepare and/or review the consolidated statement of cash flows on a quarterly basis, and perform research and interpret U.S. GAAP accounting standards to determine the accounting and financial reporting treatment for new, material, and complex/unusual transactions or agreements. Additionally, you will prepare and/or review technical accounting memorandums for significant transactions, maintain new or existing accounting policies based on evolving industry standards and best practices, and manage the accounting of certain technical accounting areas such as lease, share-based compensation, goodwill, debt, and software accounting. You will also identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to refine and streamline the financial reporting process, assist in designing and implementing internal controls, and direct, lead, and manage direct report(s) in building a high-performance department.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the timely and accurate preparation of external financial reports and ensure financial statements and footnotes are presented in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather relevant information for financial reporting and disclosure purposes.
  • Prepare and/or review the consolidated statement of cash flows on a quarterly basis.
  • Perform research and interpret U.S. GAAP accounting standards to determine the accounting and financial reporting treatment for new, material, and complex/unusual transactions or agreements.
  • Prepare and/or review technical accounting memorandums for significant transactions.
  • Prepare and maintain new or existing accounting policies based on evolving industry standards and best practices.
  • Prepare and manage the accounting of certain technical accounting areas, such as lease, share-based compensation, goodwill, debt, software accounting, etc.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of all aspects of the business and the related impact on the company's accounting and internal control systems, procedures, and processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to refine and streamline the financial reporting process.
  • Assist in designing and implementing internal controls.
  • Direct, lead and manage direct report(s) in building a high-performance department.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Accounting; CPA Required
  • Public Accounting foundation with a preference for Big 4
  • A minimum of 8 years of accounting related work experience, primarily in financial reporting and technical accounting, as well as familiarity with debt, lease, share-based compensation, capitalized software, asset acquisition, business combinations, and revenue recognition.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay current with emerging trends and relevant legislation that impacts accounting and financial reporting.
  • Strong ability to research technical issues.
  • Strong strategic, presentation, project management, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity.
  • Ability to be flexible and collaborate with team on different projects and needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in SEC external filings.
  • Prior experience in Technical Accounting.
  • SaaS industry experience is preferred.
  • IPO experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in Workiva platform.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $130,000 - $180,000
