The Manager-Technical Accounting will provide U.S. GAAP accounting and reporting guidance to the Evoqua North America finance team, as well as central ownership of accounting for complex areas including revenue recognition, purchase accounting, and restructuring. This role involves close collaboration with the Accounting, Finance, Legal, and Tax functions to support monthly and quarterly close requirements. The position requires a proactive approach to process improvement, identifying opportunities to automate and streamline accounting processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. You will also be responsible for managing the accounting for business combinations, divestitures, and other structural changes, as well as providing training on technical accounting topics to the finance team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the financial implications of new customer contracts are accurately assessed and that the accounting policies are maintained and updated as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance on complex matters concerning GAAP requirements, acting as the key technical accounting liaison for the Evoqua North America businesses.
  • Work with Xylem's Corporate Technical Accounting Group to develop and implement policies and procedures required to address new accounting guidance and maintain Evoqua North America specific accounting policies.
  • Interface with Evoqua North America's legal, sales, and finance functions to determine the accounting/financial implications of new customer contracts.
  • Oversee the review of customer contracts and ensure proper revenue recognition treatment.
  • Bring a process improvement mindset to the accounting function, including identifying opportunities to automate, streamline, and improve processes.
  • Partner with Xylem's Corporate treasury, tax, and legal groups to support strategic initiatives including tax reorganizations and select treasury investment programs.
  • Advise Evoqua North America's Financial Planning and Analysis group on the accounting implications of proposed programs/transactions.
  • Manage the accounting for business combinations, divestitures, and other structure changes, including oversight of third-party advisors for the Evoqua North America business.
  • Assist in the integration of newly acquired businesses, including the preparation of the opening balance sheet and adoption of Xylem policies and procedures (i.e. purchase accounting).
  • Key contact for Evoqua North America's Human Resource and Operational Finance groups on restructuring and realignment initiatives.
  • Provide training on technical accounting topics to members of Evoqua North America's finance team.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors regarding technical accounting matters.
  • Perform special projects and analyses as assigned by the Evoqua Assistant Controller.
  • Prepare and review data utilized in Xylem's regulatory filings with the SEC including Form 10Qs and Form 10Ks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting and/or finance. CPA required.
  • Minimum of 7 - 10 years' experience in Public Accounting firm and/or Controller's functions of a major international Company. Combination of both a plus.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively, manage multiple projects, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Computer skills necessary, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Powerpoint). Knowledge of OneStream, SAP, CoStar, Visual Lease and Workiva a plus.
