About the position

The Manager, Technical Program Manager role at Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is a pivotal position within the Content Distribution Engineering (CDE) team. This role serves as the interface between business, product, and engineering, overseeing technical relationships with internal and external content ingest partners for various distribution channels. The manager will lead a team of Technical Program Managers (TPMs) responsible for onboarding new content partners into WBD's global supply chain, ensuring effective collaboration across teams and regions to meet business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Define the strategy for integrations with key distribution partners.
  • Lead and mentor the TPMs to deliver necessary integrations supporting WBD's business aims.
  • Act as the escalation point for business and technical stakeholders regarding partner responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with internal legal, sales, and business development teams to secure new distribution deals.
  • Define policies and processes related to partner onboardings and integrations.
  • Ensure technical integrations maintain high content quality and user experience.
  • Work with distribution partners to prioritize WBD's interests on their development roadmap.
  • Collaborate with internal product and engineering leads to define strategic direction for non-linear supply chains.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Technical Program Manager or comparable engineering role.
  • Considerable experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary integrations involving multiple internal and external teams.
  • Exceptional customer relationship and account management skills.
  • Champion of Agile methodologies, using metrics to drive productivity.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the global VOD ecosystem and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially across time zones.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Movielabs Digital Distribution Framework.
  • Familiarity with Cablelabs VOD Content Specification.
  • Knowledge of video and audio codecs, wrappers, and profiles.
  • Understanding of common subtitle and caption formats.
