About the position

MedImpact Healthcare Systems, Inc. is seeking a Manager of Technical Project Management to lead and oversee project management activities within the IT Services department. This role is pivotal in ensuring that project deliverables are executed sustainably, accurately, and reliably. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day leadership, manage resources, and develop policies and processes that align with the organization's goals. The Manager will also be responsible for recruiting, managing, and retaining a high-performing team, ensuring that staff members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet current and future organizational needs. In this position, the Manager will partner with cross-functional teams, including senior management, to define project scopes, timelines, and resource allocations. They will guide the team in creating project plans, progress reports, and other essential deliverables. The role requires establishing and refining internal processes and metrics to support successful project completion, including software development and business projects. The Manager will also communicate schedules and deadlines effectively, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned. The Manager of Technical Project Management will participate in project management throughout the project lifecycle, from scope definition to implementation and maintenance. This includes developing a thorough understanding of software products and tools to effectively lead the team. The position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to fostering a positive team environment. The Manager will also be responsible for mentoring and developing staff, ensuring that they are aware of business objectives and individual accountabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to recruit, manage, and retain necessary resources for assigned work groups.
  • Manages work groups to achieve service commitments and timely execution of project deliverables.
  • Develops and administers policies, business processes, quality standards, and operating budgets.
  • Encourages new ideas for improving organizational performance and takes corrective action as needed.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams for project definition, including resources, time estimates, and prioritization.
  • Participates in Enterprise Project Prioritization (EPP) working meetings.
  • Guides the team in creating project plans, burndown and velocity charts, and project progress reports.
  • Establishes and manages internal processes and metrics to support project completion.
  • Communicates schedules and deadlines for the project management team.
  • Makes recommendations for improving policies, procedures, and business processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Five (5+) years of related experience in product and/or software development in a project management role.
  • At least three (3+) years of experience directly managing and mentoring professionals.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with software development processes.
  • Strong proficiency with Jira, MS Office, PowerPoint, MS Project, Excel, Visio, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of SQL coding, Oracle forms, and UNIX operating systems.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification and Scrum Master Certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), Pharmacy, healthcare, or electronic commerce environment.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies.
