About the position

The Manager of Technical Projects is responsible for overseeing the business technical aspects of the NY Integrated Energy Data Resource (IEDR) platform solution for NYSEG and RG&E. This role involves managing project teams to develop, design, implement, and test the technology solution as defined in regulatory orders. The position requires collaboration with various business units and functional leaders to ensure project goals are met, while also managing budgets and ensuring compliance with accounting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the Data Strategy, Governance and Processes Office as the Business Technical lead for the NY IEDR implementation team.
  • Support and execute project management business requirements including Capital and OpEx budgets, securing approvals, and ensuring accounting requirements are met.
  • Act as the internal leadership face for business technical requirements, advocating appropriate positions.
  • Resource the IEDR implementation project, financial planning, KPI tracking, and risk management reporting.
  • Support deliverables from IEDR and DAF external working teams, ensuring alignment with NYSEG and RG&E technical solutions.
  • Resolve critical path and strategic issues related to data assessments and migrations, collaborating with data scientists and engineers.
  • Support the transfer of customer data while maintaining PII and customer information protection.
  • Attain project objectives related to cost benefits and operational integration, including change management.
  • Provide briefings and status reports for executives, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate efforts of cross-functional project teams and hold regular status meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years working in a regulated utility environment with direct experience in business project management.
  • Experience leading enterprise multi-utility, cross-functional, and cross-cultural teams in a gas and electric utility.
  • Knowledge of the procurement process and project accounting guidelines for cost recovery.
  • Experience with SAP for financial budgeting, forecasting, and tracking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Project, Visio, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Experience managing customer-related data such as billing and metering data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Change Management, PMP and/or Lean Six Sigma Certification(s).
  • Knowledge of Information Technology design, architecture, and data virtualization.
