About the position

The Manager of Terminal Projects and Operations at Graymont is responsible for managing and optimizing the North American bulk and bag distribution terminal network. This role involves overseeing both owned and operated terminal locations as well as third-party transload locations and warehouses. The manager will ensure safe, clean, and cost-effective product movement while maintaining high standards of service, safety, and quality. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that support Graymont's business objectives and enhance terminal efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize the North American bulk and bag distribution terminal network.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations at terminal sites.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through leadership and adherence to safety policies.
  • Evaluate existing and potential terminal network requirements in collaboration with sales and logistics teams.
  • Develop and manage terminal operating expense budgets and monthly variance reporting.
  • Plan and execute capital projects and performance improvement initiatives for terminal operations.
  • Negotiate and oversee third-party operating agreements and contracts.
  • Implement effective inventory management strategies to minimize customer service issues.
  • Lead, coach, train, and develop terminal staff.
  • Develop and communicate standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required; an Engineering Degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of ten years' progressive experience in operations and/or logistics.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of lime/cement/dry bulk distribution and related functions.
  • Experience working with railroads on business development and track design.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical, financial acumen, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs and familiar with automation solutions; JDE experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop direct reports.

Nice-to-haves

  • Network optimization experience preferred.
  • Supply and Operational experience would be an asset.
