About the position

Valero is seeking an experienced salesperson to join its Wholesale Marketing department, focusing on expanding the company's presence in the Atlanta, GA territory. The Manager of Territory Sales will play a crucial role in maintaining existing customer relationships while actively seeking profit improvement opportunities within the assigned territory. This position requires a proactive approach to sales and marketing, with an emphasis on developing productive working relationships with both current and prospective customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing market pricing strategies, managing inventory procedures, and understanding branded programs and territory participation. In addition to relationship management, the Manager of Territory Sales will observe competitive activities, including new investments, promotions, and pricing strategies. The role involves seeking out and analyzing new customers and market expansion opportunities, particularly focusing on branded marketing opportunities. A deep understanding of market factors affecting the profitability of branded marketing is essential, as is the ability to gather and communicate market intelligence to branded pricing functions. This will be achieved through frequent contact with customers, industry counterparts, and various industry information sources. The position also requires the candidate to become knowledgeable about the physical and operational characteristics of Valero's product distribution system. Evaluating applicable capital and investment opportunities, including upgrades, replacements, and maintenance needs, will also be part of the responsibilities. This is a salaried exempt position, meaning the candidate will not be eligible for overtime pay, and the role demands a commitment to managing territory sales operations around the clock, including weekends and holidays as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Develop productive working relationships with existing and new customers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's or higher-level degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in refining and/or petroleum sales or relevant experience in sales or marketing required.
  • 3+ years of experience in oil and gas or retail fuels sales required.
  • Ability to manage assigned territory sales operations 24/7, including holidays.
  • Willingness to travel about 25% of the time to manage and support territory activity.
  • Currently living within commuting distance of the Atlanta, GA area.
