About the position

The Territory Sales Manager is an individual contributor role that focuses on territory management and basic technical responsibilities. This position is crucial for developing and sustaining a business strategy aimed at gaining or protecting market share for accounts within the designated territory. The Territory Sales Manager will provide essential technical services to Summit/Argos customers, lead marketing and sales efforts, and monitor the quality and performance of both Summit/Argos and competitive products in the territory. This role is designed to support a positive community standing, promote sustainable operations, and ensure adherence to all company policies, safety standards, and federal/state regulations. In this role, the Territory Sales Manager will create a clear business strategy for each account, which may include increasing market share, account penetration, and protecting the existing customer base. The manager will develop realistic and achievable revenue and product goals, identify and understand the competitive landscape, and create plans to maximize account potential. This includes implementing district strategies such as price attainment and promoting the use of Argos products, particularly in the masonry and stucco segments. The manager will also provide basic technical assistance and utilize available resources to address product and service issues related to masonry and stucco troubleshooting. Additionally, the Territory Sales Manager will gather intelligence on customers, competitors, and potential customers, maintaining a realistic succession pipeline of customers. Building and maintaining strong customer relationships is essential, as is providing training and education to customers. The manager will actively participate in trade associations and highlight opportunities for innovation and product development. Effective call planning and CRM usage will be critical to ensure adequate coverage and to incorporate strategies that maintain and grow the package channel, including color masonry offerings. The role also involves managing working capital goals and delivering value to customers, particularly in the package channel, while utilizing Summit and Argos systems for accurate forecasting, pricing, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in trade associations as requested.
  • Highlight innovation and product development opportunities.
  • Develop an effective call planning system for adequate coverage.
  • Manage working capital goals by meeting DSO and SG&A objectives.
  • Utilize Summit and Argos systems for accurate forecasts, pricing, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of sales experience in building materials supply or associated industries, preferably with geographic/territory understanding.
  • Proactive, organized, results-oriented self-starter with high energy and drive.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong presentation, training, and computer skills with analytical and conceptual abilities.
  • Knowledge of segment-based marketing methods.
  • Possess entrepreneurial skills and business acumen.
  • Residence within the sales territory is required.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with customers and attend meetings.
