About the position
The position is for a Thermal Systems Engineering Manager at Blue Origin, specifically within the Lunar Permanence business unit. The role focuses on developing spacecraft thermal control systems to support the transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. The manager will lead a diverse team, ensuring professional development and fostering an inclusive environment while overseeing the technical specifications and requirements for thermal systems.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, onboard, train and mentor a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team of new Thermal Systems Engineers
- Manage direct reports' professional development through coaching, performance reviews, and promotion management
- Lead the development and management of Thermal IPT specifications and requirements
- Lead the development and management of thermal interfaces, including Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and models
- Standardize Thermal Systems Engineering approaches across Lunar missions
- Own the verification and validation of Thermal requirements in collaboration with Thermal test engineers
- Perform traceability analysis of requirements to higher levels and verification activities
- Utilize Systems Engineering tools such as Jama, Windchill, and Cameo
- Support and present at major gated reviews including design and readiness reviews
- Monitor technical progress, requirements, budget, schedule, deliverables, and risks, and review recommendations for change with program management
- Communicate progress to leadership team via program management reviews and project deep dives.
Requirements
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or similar
- Experience in the generation of requirements, decomposition, and analysis
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to earn trust and maintain positive relationships
