About the position

The Manager, Trade Compliance at SPARC Group LLC is responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) regulations and managing the classification of brand SKUs. This role involves maintaining the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) in the brand's ERP system, liaising with customs brokers, and supporting import and export operations. The position requires a strong understanding of duty deferral programs and the ability to audit and manage compliance documentation effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assign US HTS code to all new SKUs, focusing on footwear, and maintain HTS in brand ERP.
  • Audit duty payments and participate in line-review activities with the merchant/sourcing team.
  • Complete post-entry audits and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in setting up new and reactivated import vendors and factories for the brand.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all import-related inquiries from internal and external customers.
  • Manage First Sale, FTZ, FTAs, and duty drawback programs, providing reporting to the team.
  • Assist with and oversee export paperwork creation.
  • Audit broker and paperwork flow, communicate with USCBP, and maintain compliance records.
  • Maintain vendor manual in conjunction with business partners in various departments.
  • Communicate with vendors on requirements and guide sourcing strategy based on duty deferral programs.
  • Run ACE and other reports as needed to support operations.
  • Support brand-level import operations teams for daily activities and find efficiencies in current processes.
  • Audit and submit monthly US Customs Broker invoices and handle inaccuracies.
  • Gather information for CF28 and CF29 and respond timely.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-3 years Import/Export Customs Brokerage experience preferred.
  • Experience in application of regulatory requirements affecting imported and exported products.
  • Working knowledge/mastery of US Harmonized Tariff Classification and Free Trade Agreements (CAFTA, AGOA).
  • Licensed Customs Broker preferred, not required.
  • Experience with ACE Portal system preferred.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and aptitude to learn technical applications quickly.
  • Ability to think objectively and interpret data meaningfully.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills.
