About the position

The Manager Trainee at Tractor Supply Company is designed to prepare individuals for the Store Manager role by providing hands-on experience in various aspects of store operations. This position focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, managing inventory, driving sales, and developing team members while fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the duties of the Store Manager position.
  • Deliver a Legendary Customer Experience through GURA: greet customers, uncover needs, recommend solutions, and appreciate customers.
  • Recruit, hire, develop, evaluate, discipline, and retain team members.
  • Schedule, organize, and plan daily activities for team members to ensure efficient store operations.
  • Lead team members to ensure a Legendary shopping experience.
  • Communicate company processes, policies, and directives to team members and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Create a desirable work environment through promotions, recognition, and empowerment.
  • Problem solve and resolve conflicts for team members and customers.
  • Manage daily merchandise flow and ensure adequate inventory controls.
  • Organize merchandise resets to company specifications.
  • Train on daily, weekly, and monthly processing of required paperwork.
  • Train on managing periodic price changes and communicating inventory needs.
  • Learn to coordinate and conduct special sales events and assist in solving district issues.
  • Set the tone for team member relations and develop the store as the 'Employer of Choice'.
  • Train to be responsible for budgeting and sales forecasting.

Requirements

  • Retail experience and/or knowledge in farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Agricultural-Science or Business related field preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid driver's license for company business.
  • Ability to process information and merchandise through the system and POS Register.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately for documentation.
  • Ability to access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock area, and register area.
  • Ability to operate necessary store equipment such as dolly, hand-truck, forklift, and cash register.
  • Ability to move and transfer merchandise weighing 0-50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work varied hours, days, nights, and weekends as needed.
