About the position

The Manager Trainee role at Dierbergs is designed for motivated individuals looking to develop their leadership skills in a retail grocery environment. This position involves hands-on responsibilities in both the grocery department and the front-end of the store, with a focus on customer service, operations, and team management. The role aims to prepare trainees for future management positions by providing comprehensive training and experience in various aspects of store operations.

Responsibilities

  • Gaining the skills, knowledge, and expertise required to efficiently oversee the grocery and front-end department
  • Partnering closely with the Core Management team to lead, direct, and supervise Associates
  • Collaborating with the Core Management team to understand variables that impact store profitability
  • Assisting in payroll management, Associate scheduling, inventory, and ordering
  • Responding to and resolving Associate issues including schedule concerns and customer complaints
  • Building relationships with vendors and holding them accountable to Dierbergs standards
  • Providing exceptional customer service to ensure a positive shopping experience
  • Acting as a Store Manager in their absence, demonstrating effective leadership and decision-making skills
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in retail, grocery, food service, or hospitality
  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
  • Strong problem-solving, decision making, and conflict management skills
  • Excellent leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate others
  • Proven track record of dependability and reliability in previous roles
  • Strong moral compass and ability to make ethical decisions
  • Flexibility to accommodate a varied schedule, including nights and weekends
  • Willingness to transfer to any available store location within the St Charles and St. Louis Metropolitan area
