About the position

The Manager of Transmission Distribution at Tucson Electric Power is responsible for overseeing the safety, financial performance, and core objectives of the team, while executing long-term planning and T&D strategies. This role involves strong leadership and communication skills to foster a culture of safety, trust, and collaboration across diverse teams. The manager will support the T&D Directors and leadership teams in achieving corporate goals effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee safety, timeliness, and financial performance of the team.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for operational and system process improvements.
  • Lead professional employees and supervisors, ensuring accountability for team performance.
  • Organize group structure for efficiency and productivity, using metrics to track results.
  • Support the evolution of the department in training, technology, and processes.
  • Set clear direction and expectations for employees, providing context for their work.
  • Facilitate project prioritization and resource allocation, ensuring timely and financially responsible outcomes.
  • Develop and manage team budgets to support departmental strategies and operating plans.
  • Write, develop, and present department business and process improvement plans.
  • Evaluate and recommend selection, development, and performance of team members.
  • Provide mentoring and feedback for employee growth and success.
  • Resolve conflicts between employees while building trusting relationships.
  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices and compliance with regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of leadership experience, or a High School diploma/GED with 10 years of relevant technical experience and 4 years of leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • High level of interpersonal skills for handling sensitive situations.
  • Ability to use emotional intelligence and diplomacy in interactions.
  • Broad-based business knowledge, including financial analysis and project management.
  • Ability to build and present effective presentations.
  • Advanced knowledge of the electric utility business.
  • Proficient in personal computer applications and software technology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree with 6 years of leadership experience, or 10 years of related technical experience and 8 years of leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of statistical concepts and data collection procedures for analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead leaders and manage organizational change.
