About the position

The Manager of Transmission Line Engineering at Sargent & Lundy is responsible for overseeing the execution of multiple transmission and distribution projects. This role involves coordinating with various internal and external departments to manage the entire project lifecycle, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The manager will lead a project team, mentor team members, and maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders while reporting on key performance indicators.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the execution of multiple transmission and distribution projects.
  • Coordinate with internal and external departments for project lifecycle management.
  • Oversee project execution, contract administration, planning, and resource management.
  • Ensure accountability within the project team and mentor team members.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with client functional leads and stakeholders.
  • Lead efforts to complete projects safely, satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
  • Support reporting of key performance indicators for schedule, budget, and other metrics.
  • Identify and control construction risks and manage changes effectively.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports that meet client requirements.
  • Analyze issues and provide solutions to improve project results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program or a management/business degree.
  • 10+ years of specific experience in Project Management of Utility Transmission projects.
  • Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • 10 or more years of experience in the electric utility industry (engineering, construction, planning, etc.).
  • Experience serving as a firm/client liaison in a support or lead role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple competing priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Engineering design experience.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Construction and start-up experience.
