About the position

The US Public Relations Manager at Colgate-Palmolive Company will lead key communications initiatives aimed at enhancing external engagement for Hill's Pet Nutrition. This role is pivotal in supporting various business initiatives, including Veterinary and Professional communications, annual tentpole PR campaigns, and publicizing the company's cause marketing and philanthropic efforts. The Manager will work closely with the US Communications & Public Relations Director to ensure alignment with key stakeholders and drive communications priorities effectively. In this position, the Manager will be responsible for managing proactive external communications initiatives across the U.S., which include community engagement and shelter/purpose-driven work. The role also involves developing content for LinkedIn and other communication channels, coordinating with Corporate Communications, and crafting strategic external communications such as messaging, pitches, press releases, and fact sheets. Additionally, the Manager will oversee US media relations strategies, conduct media outreach, and manage inquiries through the US media inbox. The role requires a strong ability to navigate a matrixed organization and to lead PR measurement and analytics to demonstrate progress toward measurable objectives, ensuring continuous improvement in future communications. This position is hybrid, allowing for a blend of remote and in-office work, and requires travel approximately 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Manage proactive external communications initiatives in the U.S., including community engagement and shelter/purpose-driven work.
  • Develop content for LinkedIn and other related communications channels for the U.S. business.
  • Develop strategic external communications, including messaging, pitches, press releases, fact sheets, and reactive Q&A documents.
  • Develop US media relations strategies and conduct media outreach as needed.
  • Oversee US media inbox and manage inquiries as appropriate.
  • Help manage PR agencies or related vendors.
  • Lead PR measurement and analytics to demonstrate progress toward measurable objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related business field.
  • 6+ years of functional experience in Communications, Public Relations or a related field.
  • Strong media relationship and experience developing earned media strategies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience working in the veterinary profession, animal health, pet nutrition or in a science-related field.
