About the position

The Manager, Vehicle Operations is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of carriers within a designated region, ensuring that all operational needs are met while optimizing performance and client satisfaction. This role requires strategic planning, decision-making, and engagement with various stakeholders to enhance carrier recruitment, onboarding, and retention processes. The manager will also analyze trends and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an advocate for the network of carriers.
  • Optimize regional carrier networks to achieve above average on-time delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Responsible for carrier retention by managing the progress and results of each account assigned within the region.
  • Monitor and analyze account performance and trends to adjust carrier expectations/goals/objectives accordingly.
  • Work with high-profile 'at risk' carriers to determine action plans for turnaround and retention.
  • Remediate issues and address high-level escalations in a timely manner.
  • Support carriers and internal/external partners through RFPs, TSA renewals, and all pre and post-award activities.
  • Communicate regional carrier needs effectively to the executive team.
  • Ensure seamless connectivity between all functional groups in support of delivery and execution.
  • Introduce new and modify existing processes, policies, and procedures to center carriers in daily engagements.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present monthly operational metrics and reporting for business reviews and performance reviews.
  • Review and approve penalties imposed on carriers due to non-compliance with KPIs.
  • Advocate for continuous improvement and provide feedback for process and system enhancements.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to drive additional savings outside of pre-determined sourcing areas.
  • Coach, develop, and empower team members to create a cohesive team environment.
  • Lead a diverse team, introducing ownership and accountability, and influencing extended team members.
  • Establish a cadence of communication with the team to ensure clarity on carrier expectations and performance metrics.
  • Demonstrate business expertise and analytical skills for managing key performance indicators and profitability goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field.
  • 1+ year of experience in a management or lead role.
  • Servant leader with proven ability to develop high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in highly matrixed environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and capacity to develop and implement practical strategies and solutions.
  • Track record of managing multiple priorities and working effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good judgment, discretion, and tact in working at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to partner well with colleagues in a matrixed work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and adept at handling complex situations.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, resilience, determination, and proactiveness.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and other business applications.

Nice-to-haves
