About the position

The Manager, Vehicle Operations is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of carriers in the designated region, ensuring that all operational needs are met. This role involves strategic planning, decision-making, and engagement with carriers to optimize performance and client satisfaction. The manager will also lead the recruitment and onboarding of carriers, monitor performance trends, and advocate for continuous improvement within the operations team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an advocate for our network of carriers
  • Optimize regional carrier networks to achieve above average on time delivery and client satisfaction
  • Responsible for carrier retention by managing the progress and results of each account assigned within their region
  • Monitor and analyze account performance and trends to adjust carrier expectations/goals/objectives
  • Work with high profile 'at risk' carriers to determine action plans for retention
  • Remediate issues and address high-level escalations in a timely manner
  • Support carriers and internal partners through sourcing processes, RFPs, and TSA renewals
  • Communicate regional carrier needs to the executive team
  • Ensure seamless connectivity between all functional groups in support of delivery and execution
  • Introduce and modify processes, policies, and procedures to enhance carrier engagement
  • Prepare, analyze, and present monthly operational metrics and reporting
  • Review and approve penalties imposed on carriers due to non-compliance with KPIs
  • Advocate for continuous improvement and provide feedback for process enhancements
  • Proactively seek opportunities to drive additional savings
  • Coach, develop, and empower team members to create a cohesive team environment
  • Lead a diverse team and ensure engagement and objectives are achieved
  • Establish communication touch points with the team to align on carrier expectations and performance metrics
  • Demonstrate business expertise and analytical skills for managing KPIs and profitability goals

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
  • 6 years' experience in a related field
  • 1+ year of experience in a management or lead role
  • Proven ability to develop high performing teams
  • Ability to operate effectively in highly matrixed environments
  • Strong organizational skills and capacity to develop practical strategies
  • Track record of managing multiple priorities under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good judgment, discretion, and tact
  • Ability to partner well in a matrixed work environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and complexity
  • High energy, enthusiasm, resilience, determination, and proactiveness
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and other business applications
