About the position

The Manager, Vehicle Operations at Ready Logistics is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of carriers within their designated region. This role involves monitoring and analyzing trends to ensure that the needs of the territory are met, while also managing the recruitment and onboarding processes for carriers. The position requires strategic planning, decision-making, and effective engagement with stakeholders to optimize carrier performance and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an advocate for the network of carriers.
  • Optimize regional carrier networks to achieve above average on-time delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Responsible for carrier retention by managing the progress and results of each account assigned within the region.
  • Monitor and analyze account performance and trends to adjust carrier expectations and goals accordingly.
  • Work with high-profile 'at risk' carriers to determine action plans for retention.
  • Remediate issues and address high-level escalations in a timely manner.
  • Support carriers and partners through RFPs, TSA renewals, and all pre and post-award activities.
  • Communicate regional carrier needs effectively to the executive team.
  • Ensure seamless connectivity between all functional groups in support of delivery and execution.
  • Introduce and modify processes, policies, and procedures to enhance carrier engagement.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present monthly operational metrics and reporting for business reviews.
  • Review and approve penalties imposed on carriers due to non-compliance with KPIs.
  • Advocate for continuous improvement and provide feedback for process enhancements.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to drive additional savings outside of predetermined sourcing areas.
  • Coach, develop, and empower team members to create a cohesive team environment.
  • Lead a diverse team, introducing ownership and accountability.
  • Establish communication touchpoints with the team to ensure alignment on carrier expectations and performance metrics.
  • Demonstrate business expertise and analytical skills for managing key performance indicators.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field.
  • 1+ year of experience in a management or lead role.
  • Proven ability to develop high-performing teams.
  • Ability to operate effectively in highly matrixed environments.
  • Demonstrated track record of assessing, developing, and empowering talent.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to develop and implement strategies and solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good judgment, discretion, and tact in working at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to partner well with colleagues in a matrixed work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and adept at handling complex situations.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, resilience, determination, and proactiveness.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and other business applications.
