About the position

The Manager, Vehicle Operations is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of carriers in the North Region, ensuring that all operational needs are met through effective management and strategic planning. This role requires a deep understanding of carrier processes, recruitment, and onboarding, as well as the ability to analyze trends and performance metrics to drive improvements and maintain high levels of client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an advocate for our network of carriers
  • Optimize regional carrier networks to achieve above average on-time delivery and client satisfaction
  • Responsible for carrier retention by managing the progress and results of each account assigned within their region
  • Monitor and analyze account performance and trends to determine adjustments to carrier expectations/goals/objectives
  • Work with high-profile 'at risk' carriers to determine action plans for turnaround and retention
  • Remediate issues and address high-level escalations in a timely manner
  • Support carriers and internal partners through RFPs, TSA renewals, and all pre and post-award activities
  • Communicate regional carrier needs to the executive team
  • Ensure seamless connectivity between all functional groups in support of delivery and execution
  • Introduce new and modify existing processes, policies, and procedures that prioritize carriers
  • Prepare, analyze, and present monthly operational metrics and reporting
  • Review and approve penalties imposed on carriers due to non-compliance with KPIs
  • Advocate for continuous improvement and provide feedback for process enhancements
  • Proactively seek opportunities to drive additional savings
  • Coach, develop, and empower team members to create a cohesive team environment
  • Lead a diverse team and ensure engagement and objectives are achieved
  • Establish communication and touch points with the team to align on carrier expectations and performance metrics
  • Demonstrate business expertise and analytical skills for managing key performance indicators and profitability goals

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
  • 6 years' experience in a related field
  • 1+ year of experience in a management or lead role
  • Servant leader with proven ability to develop high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in highly matrixed environments
  • Strong organizational skills and capacity to develop and implement strategies
  • Track record of managing multiple priorities under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good judgment, discretion, and ability to work at all organizational levels
  • Ability to partner well in a matrixed work environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and adept at handling complex situations
  • High energy, enthusiasm, resilience, determination, and proactiveness
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and other business applications
