About the position

The Manager, Vehicle Operations is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of carriers within a specified region, ensuring that all operational needs are met while optimizing performance and client satisfaction. This role involves strategic planning, decision-making, and engagement with various stakeholders to enhance carrier recruitment, onboarding, and retention processes. The manager will also analyze trends, monitor account performance, and advocate for continuous improvement within the logistics operations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an advocate for our network of carriers.
  • Optimize regional carrier networks to achieve above average on-time delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Responsible for carrier retention by managing the progress and results of each account assigned within their region.
  • Monitor and analyze account performance and trends to determine adjustments to carrier expectations/goals/objectives.
  • Work with high-profile ‘at risk' carriers to determine action plans for turnaround and retention.
  • Remediate issues and address high-level escalations in a timely manner.
  • Support carriers and internal/external partners through sourcing processes, RFPs, and TSA renewals.
  • Communicate effectively with the executive team regarding regional carrier needs.
  • Ensure seamless connectivity between all functional groups in support of delivery and execution.
  • Introduce new and modify existing processes, policies, and procedures to enhance carrier engagement.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present monthly operational metrics and reporting for business reviews.
  • Review and approve penalties imposed on carriers due to non-compliance with KPIs.
  • Advocate for continuous improvement and provide feedback for process enhancements.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to drive additional savings outside of pre-determined sourcing areas.
  • Coach, develop, and empower team members to create a cohesive team environment.
  • Lead a diverse team, introducing ownership and accountability.
  • Establish communication touchpoints with the team to ensure clarity on carrier expectations and performance metrics.
  • Demonstrate business expertise and analytical skills for managing key performance indicators.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field.
  • 1+ year of experience in a management or lead role.
  • Proven ability to develop high-performing teams as a servant leader.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in highly matrixed environments.
  • Strong organizational skills with a capacity to develop and implement practical strategies.
  • Track record of managing multiple priorities and working effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good judgment, discretion, and the ability to work at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to partner well with colleagues in a matrixed work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and adept at handling complex situations.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, resilience, determination, and proactiveness.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and other business applications.
