About the position

The Manager of Virtual Nursing at MercyOne is responsible for overseeing nursing operations within a specified area, ensuring high-quality patient care and effective staff management. This role involves 24-hour accountability for patient care activities, unit operations, and staff development, while promoting evidence-based practices and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote evidence-based practice and research among unit leaders and staff.
• Direct recruitment and retention activities on the unit.
• Conduct performance appraisals for staff.
• Administer nursing care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating care plans.
• Develop and maintain departmental staffing plans based on operational needs.
• Collaborate with other departments in budget preparation and monitoring.
• Facilitate efficient operation of unit activities and ensure compliance with safety policies.
• Supervise assigned management staff and provide necessary education and support.
• Develop annual operational plans integrated with Mercy's strategic plan.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Iowa.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Experience in nursing management or leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of nursing standards and healthcare regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
