The Manager, Warehousing & Inventory position is based in San Diego, CA, within the Cardiometabolic and Informatics Division. This role is office-based five days a week and involves overseeing all aspects of inventory in a distribution center/local warehouse environment. The responsibilities include managing shipping, receiving, finished goods inventory management, component inventory management, final pack, and associated logistics while ensuring a safe working environment. In this role, you will manage the flow of inventory within the distribution center/warehouse to support efficiencies, quality system compliance, and customer delivery dates. You will evaluate warehousing processes and systems, make recommendations for improvements, and manage the implementation of approved processes and systems changes to enhance productivity, reduce expenses, and improve margins. Continuous improvement tools will be applied to identify and eliminate root causes of issues that may arise within the warehouse, including managing corrective actions to mitigate recurrence. As a leader, you will assign goals that align with the entity's annual plans and department needs, managing the team to execute these goals through coaching and mentoring. Establishing a culture of accountability and compliance is essential. You will also manage all transportation and delivery programs, including routing, courier selection, company driver, and fleet management, while minimizing expenses and maintaining a high level of customer service and responsiveness. Additionally, you will be responsible for workforce planning, including short-term staffing needs to support weekly business commitments, and for all matters related to warehouse safety and security.

Responsibilities

  • Manage flow of inventory within the distribution center/warehouse to support efficiencies, quality system compliance, and customer delivery dates.
  • Evaluate warehousing processes and systems, make recommendations for improvements, and manage the implementation of approved processes and systems changes.
  • Apply continuous improvement tools to identify and eliminate root causes of issues within the warehouse.
  • Provide leadership by assigning goals that align with the entity's annual plans and managing the team to execute these goals through coaching and mentoring.

  • Manage workforce planning, including short-term staffing needs to support weekly business commitments.
  • Responsible for all matters related to warehouse safety and security, including evaluating and implementing appropriate safeguards.
  • Maintain physical facilities, including the evaluation and procurement of material handling equipment and other building maintenance, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Create and maintain departmental reports as required to facilitate operations.
  • Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts and reconciling with data storage systems.
  • Hire and retain a diverse, highly qualified staff.
  • Establish functional goals for area of responsibility and review progress against goals on a semi-annual basis.
  • Schedule team communications and one-on-one sessions with direct reports to provide feedback and promote a positive work environment.
  • Maintain high standards in housekeeping, safety, GMP, and a professional work environment.
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate degree required plus 7 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree focused on Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or equivalent experience preferred plus 5 years or more of experience in a similar role/environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback to develop employees.
