About the position

The Manager at Whataburger is a key business partner responsible for collaborating with the General Manager to lead the team and achieve operational goals. This role focuses on ensuring health and safety standards, recruiting and training staff, and driving sales through effective customer service and marketing strategies. The Manager is also involved in maintaining a clean and efficient operation while participating in a skills development program for career advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Protects and promotes the Whataburger Brand at all times.
  • Schedules training as directed by the units/shift staffing plan.
  • Maintains professional relationships with Team Members.
  • Communicates all harassment complaints and other complaints involving Whataburger policy violations to appropriate management.
  • Prepares and presents ideas and recommendations to Team Members and upper management.
  • Communicates directions clearly and follows up to ensure specific actions are carried out as intended.
  • Uses on-the-spot training to improve performance, providing positive feedback and encouraging Team Members to ask questions.
  • Evaluates Team Member performance by meal period and provides feedback to Team Members and General Manager.
  • Conducts skill assessments to evaluate the quality of food production, customer service, and speed of service.
  • Ensures effective product handling and storage procedures are practiced and food production staff accurately applies portion control.
  • Tracks and audits sales, food, labor, cash, and expense items each day.
  • Handles emergencies in a controlled, exact manner to avoid confusion and further crisis.

Requirements

  • Experience in a managerial role within the food service industry.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in food service.
  • Experience with budgeting and financial management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
  • Familiarity with sales and marketing strategies.
  • Certification in food safety and handling.
