About the position

The Front of House Manager at Alexander's Steakhouse is responsible for overseeing the dining experience, ensuring exceptional customer service, and managing the front of house operations. This role requires a dynamic leader who can inspire and train staff while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service quality. The manager will work closely with the kitchen staff and general manager to create a welcoming environment for guests and ensure operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage FOH staff, including scheduling, performance feedback, uniforms, and discipline.
  • Coordinate and assign activities of FOH personnel to provide fast and courteous service.
  • Responsible for ongoing training and professional development of staff members.
  • Effectively communicate with kitchen management to ensure efficient operations.
  • Build trust with staff members and kitchen management through clear communication and feedback.
  • Evaluate staff quality, care, and morale, striving for improvement through solid communication and leadership.
  • Set operational goals and follow-up plans for the work unit.
  • Direct and hold staff accountable for achieving operational goals.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the Front of House, maintaining standards and passing Health Department audits.
  • Accommodate special needs of guests and inspect dining room serving stations for cleanliness and neatness.
  • Train FOH employees on all service stations and interview new personnel.
  • Direct team members on daily work assignments and assist guests with allergies.
  • Maintain an extensive floor presence to support FOH and BOH staff.
  • Understand and comply with all policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Ensure all guests receive responsive, friendly, and courteous service at all times.
  • Control cash and other receipts by adhering to cash handling procedures.
  • Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
  • Prepare required paperwork, including forms, reports, and schedules in an organized manner.
  • Oversee and ensure timely completion of employee performance appraisals.
  • Schedule labor according to anticipated business activity and ensure staffing needs are met.
  • Administer corrective action for policy violations and comply with health and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a food service operation and/or customer service role required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of previous restaurant management experience is desired but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of service and food and beverage operations.
  • Excellent basic math skills and ability to operate a Point Of Sale system.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods (up to 5 hours).
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stamina to work an average of 55 hours per week.
  • Must possess a current California Food Handler Card.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Aloha and RSI is a plus!
  • Excellent food & wine knowledge with an Asian & local emphasis is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Restaurant POS System, computers, Micros, Excel, Word, Email, Social Media, phone systems.
