About the position

The Managing Director, Communications at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that promote the DFC's mission, values, and objectives to key stakeholders. This role involves serving as a key spokesperson, managing a team of communications professionals, and ensuring effective media relations and public affairs to enhance the organization's reputation and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to enhance DFC's reputation and impact.
  • Serve as a key spokesperson for DFC and develop relationships with media outlets, journalists, and other influencers.
  • Manage a team of communications professionals responsible for executing DFC's communications strategy.
  • Work collaboratively with DFC's leadership team to align communications efforts with organizational goals.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of crisis communications plans.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to senior leaders, including the CEO and Deputy CEO.
  • Monitor and analyze industry trends to inform DFC's communications strategy.
  • Manage DFC's digital presence, including its website and social media channels.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
  • Experience providing strategic communications counsel to senior leaders.
  • Experience developing and implementing internal and external communication strategies.
  • Experience managing and supervising a communications staff.
  • Experience operating in crisis situations and providing effective media response.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in digital communication and social media management.
  • Familiarity with public affairs and media relations.
