About the position

The Managing Director, Complex Claims at AIG is responsible for overseeing a team of Casualty Adjusters and Complex Directors, managing the performance of claims related to moderate to high severity Auto and General Liability claims nationwide. This role emphasizes technical excellence, customer service, and effective communication with various stakeholders. The Managing Director will also focus on training, developing staff, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures to maintain high-quality claim file standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a team of Casualty Adjusters and Complex Directors in managing claims performance.
• Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate moderate to high severity Auto and General Liability claims.
• Ensure adjusting staff analyze coverage and resolve claims within granted authority.
• Provide ongoing coaching and counseling to direct reports to achieve technical excellence.
• Conduct periodic claim file audits of field claims practices and results.
• Train and develop staff while maintaining team metrics.
• Communicate effectively with underwriters, insureds, brokers, and senior claim management.

Requirements

• 7+ years of General and Auto Liability claim experience.
• Prior claims management experience preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of claim handling procedures and best practices.
• Ability to evaluate complex coverage scenarios and resolve high severity injury claims.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Effective decision-making skills with the ability to analyze and improve claims performance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience handling self-insured retentions and surplus lines coverages.
• Ability to obtain multi-state adjuster licenses within 6 months of hire.
